Το Samsung Galaxy S 3 εμφανιζεται σε benchmark

Όπως μπορείτε να δείτε από τις εικόνες που μόλις δημοσιεύτηκαν, υπάρχει πράγματι μια απο τις συσκευές που απαριθμούνται τώρα στο AnTuTu ως "Samsung Galaxy SIII." Έχει ξεπέρασε όλες τις άλλες συσκευές που έχουν αξιολογηθεί, λαμβάνοντας το χρυσό κύπελο στην απόδοση. Για να δούμε όμως τα specs τις συσκευείς.Έχουμε ένα dual-core επεξεργαστή Exynos 4212 χρονισμένο στα 1.4GHz, 1GB RAM, μια 4,7 "οθόνη HD (1280 × 720), 2MP κάμερα μπροστά, 12MP κάμερα πίσω, και  Android 4.0

Ένα πράγμα που πρέπει να σημειώσουμε εδώ είναι το δίκτυο το οποίο αναφέρεται ως "GSM / WCDMA." Αυτό δεν σημαίνει απαραίτητα ότι δεν θα δούμε εκδόσεις CDMA ή LTE της συσκευής, αλλά απλώς ότι η συσκευή ήταν συγκρίσιμη μόνο GSM. Όλοι μπορούμε να ελπίζουμε είναι ότι αυτό το Exynos chipset λειτουργεί ωραία με LTE.

Samsung Galaxy S III benchmark !

Whoa there AnTuTu benchmark! Are you trying to out the most anticipated Android device of the year? It appears as if you are, and we thank you for that.
As you can see from the screenshots we just posted, there is indeed a device listed now in AnTuTu as the “Samsung Galaxy SIII.” It has topped all other devices that have been benchmarked, taking home the gold trophy for performance. If we cruise in the device listing for it, we seem to have a confirmation on specs for the phone. We have a dual-core Exynos 4212 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, 1GB of RAM, a 4.7″ HD display (1280×720), 2MP front camera, 12MP rear camera, and Android 4.0. Yeah, that sounds about right.

One thing to note here is the network which is listed as “GSM/WCDMA.” This doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t see CDMA or LTE versions of the device, but just that the benchmarked device was only GSM. All we can hope is that this Exynos chipset is playing nicely with LTE or it may be a while before we see it here in the States.
With a teaser for the device already live and a date for unveiling set, we won’t have to post these wishy-washy benchmark results much longer.
Oh, and we should probably mention the benchmark disclaimer, as to not offend the Android voices of reason out there.

WWDC 2012: Ανακοινώθηκε για τις 11 Ιουνίου

Η Apple ανακοίνωσε πριν από λίγα λεπτά ότι το φετινό WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) θα διεξαχθεί στο Moscone West του San Fransisco, στις 11 με 15 Ιουνίου!
Οι developers που θα παρευρεθούν στο συνέδριο θα έχουν τη δυνατότητα να παρακολουθήσουν παραπάνω από 100 sessions σχετικά με την ανάπτυξη εφαρμογών για iOS και OS X, να λύσουν τυχόν απορίες μιλώντας απευθείας με το εξειδικευμένο προσωπικό της Apple και φυσικά να δικτυωθούν με ενδιαφέρουσες προσωπικότητες του χώρου τους.
Όπως πάντα, τα εισιτήρια του WWDC αναμένεται να γίνουν ανάρπαστα, οπότε αν πραγματικά ενδιαφέρεστε να παρευρεθείτε στο συνέδριο καλό θα ήταν να κινηθείτε άμεσα.

HP announces six Ivy Bridge desktops

We've already seen a number of laptops from HP sporting Intel's 22nm micro architecture, most commonly known as Ivy Bridge, but now the company is giving its desktop lineup a similar refresh with six quad-core models that'll be available directly from the manufacturer on April 29th. Of the group, three will feature all-in-one form factors, which include the Omni 220qd -- a rig with Beats Audio and a cantilever design that'll start at $999 -- along with the Omni 27qd, which features a 27-inch display and a $1,199 price tag. The third model will bring a refresh to the TouchSmart 520xt, which features a touch-enabled 23-inch display that'll retail for $999.
The remaining updates are stand-alone desktops, which consist of the HPE h8t, available for $699, and the HPE h8xt -- a more powerful unit that'll start at $799. Those looking to delve a bit further into the high-end will find the HPE Phoenix h9t, which will metaphorically rise from the ashes at $1,149. Curiously, the Phoenix is the only unit that'll simultaneously hit retailers on April 29th -- the five other models won't get their taste of brick and mortar until June 24th.

Steam for Linux is coming

It's been a long-running saga as to when Linux users will finally see some native gaming action on Steam, but according to Phoronix that happy day will likely arrive within "months." Valve has been busily hiring Linux OpenGL boffins, including people recommended by Phoronix's founder, Michael Larabel, who certainly seems to be on the inside track. His photo above offers some proof of progress: it shows Left 4 Dead 2 running natively on Ubuntu 11.10 with AMD Catalysts drivers. Why has it taken so long since news of a Linux client was first floated (and officially denied) back in 2010? Larabel attributes it to Valve's "flat management structure" that allows its developers to work on what they want.

NASA READIs early detection GPS network, aids first responders with earthquake warnings

After tacking space shuttle Discovery onto the back of a 747, the brainy gang over at NASA's READI for a new challenge -- earthquake detection. The agency's GPS-monitoring system, known as the Real-time Earthquake Analysis for Disaster Mitigation Network, is being tested with the goal of more accurately detecting the scale of quakes and, consequently, getting tsunami warnings out as soon as possible. The setup, made possible by a partnership between the Department of Defense, the National Space Foundation, and the United States Geological Survey, works by measuring ground displacement in real-time to provide a faster, more detailed assessment of imminent damage, thereby giving first responders a head start on determining aid. So the next time you look up to the night sky and wish upon a tracking star, keep in mind that sometimes privacy-skewing, positioning tech could just save your life.
